Merger to form first national disability management provider

Two of Canada’s leading disability management companies are joining forces to offer a wider array of services to companies and insurers across Canada. As of February 1, 2009, Banyan Work Health Solutions and Aptitude Santé will merge their operations and go forward as Banyan Work Health Solutions in English, and Banyan Solutions en Santé au Travail in Quebec, with operations centered out of Montreal and Toronto.

Founded in Toronto in 1995, Banyan is a national leader in pro-active workplace health management services for disability insurers and employers.  Banyan and Aptitude Santé have enjoyed a successful strategic alliance for the past two years given their similarities in service philosophy and commitment to innovative solutions. Both organizations have a solid history and track record in their respective markets and agree that a merger will answer the need for a truly national full-service proactive disability management firm for insurers and employers.

“This is a first in our industry,” said Maria Vandenhurk, president of Banyan Work Health Solutions. “This blending of organizations will not only expand our reach, but enhance the quality of services we’re able to bring to the market. Many employers and insurers have for some time been seeking a truly national service delivery. By replicating the best of both companies in both English and French, we bring a much wanted solution to the marketplace. This is a reason to celebrate. Both organizations are very excited and expect great things to come as a result of the integration.”
