CCOHS, N.S. partner to offer free online courses to workers

Nova Scotia has partnered with the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) to provide free access to CCOHS’ e-learning courses on topics of occupational health and safety. The initiative is part of the province’s new workplace safety strategy.

Under the agreement, there are more than 60 free e-learning courses that Nova Scotians can choose from. Topics include:
• confined space management?
• hazard identification
?• assessment and control
?• ladder safety?
• manual materials handling?
• emergency response planning
?• stress in the workplace

The CCOHS is a federal government agency that acts as a national resource for the advancement of workplace health and safety. CCOHS courses are developed by subject specialists in the field, and reviewed by representatives from labour, employers and government to ensure the content and approach are unbiased and credible, according to CCOHS.
