PepsiCo Winnipeg took home the Safety Culture Award, presented by Safe Work Manitoba, at the Safetys award gala in Winnipeg on Sept. 26.

Other big winners in the employer categories were New Flyer Industries, the winner of the Safety Excellence in Manufacturing Award, presented by Made Safe, and Kleysen Group, the winner of the RPM Award for safety in the trucking industry.

A total of 14 awards were handed out to individuals and organizations to recognize their achievements in workplace health and safety at the second annual Safetys awards gala. The awards are co-hosted by eight Manitoba safety organizations to celebrate Manitobans who are making our workplaces healthier and safer.

The award winners come from diverse workplaces and industries, and include businesses, front-line workers, safety and health professionals, and managers and leaders.

"Two of the goals of The Safetys is to show that safety and health in the workplace is everyone's responsibility, and anyone can play a part in making their workplace safer and healthier," said Laura La Palme, chair of The Safetys planning committee. "We want to bring Manitoba's business community together in support of putting workplace safety at the forefront of every business decision. Our award winners today show that this can be done to the benefit of everyone in the workplace."
