Slice ceramics offers patented pen cutters with ceramic blades. With rounded edges for safety and a thicker blade for ease of handling, the pen cutters reduce injuries when compared to traditional metal blades, says the manufacturer. A single ceramic blade is equivalent to 20 single-edge metal blades and long outlasts both high carbon steel and stainless steel. Made from Zirconium Oxide ZrO2, only diamonds are harder, the manufacturer says. Unlike conventional steel blades that rust quickly and require excessive force — leading to dangerous and uncontrolled cutting which in turn causes accidents — the thicker ceramic blade lasts 10 times longer than metal meaning less blade changes, more control over cutting and a safer overall cutting experience.
