WSIB rolls out suite of online services

In a bid to streamline operations and enhance accessibility, Ontario’s Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) has rolled out new online services, aiming to simplify document submission and communication for businesses. With these latest additions, businesses can now submit a wide array of documents and communicate with the board round the clock, without the hassle of traditional methods.

One of the key features of the new online services is the capability for businesses to submit various documents at any time, including those related to premium reporting and payments, premium rates/classification, clearances, account maintenance, and registration. This move ensures that documents reach the board securely and in real-time, enabling faster assistance to businesses in need.

WSIB also introduced an online messaging system, allowing businesses to communicate with the board about their accounts conveniently from anywhere, anytime. This eliminates the need for businesses to carve out time from their busy schedules to make phone calls, offering a more flexible and efficient means of seeking assistance.

"Businesses have enough to do in their day-to-day operations,” says Janine Dyck, chief of employer services at the WSIB. “Working with us shouldn’t add any burden. Now businesses can manage their account and message us online making it easier and faster for them to work with us.”

The implementation of these online services reflects WSIB's commitment to modernizing its operations and embracing digital solutions. By reducing reliance on traditional methods such as mail and fax by 70% since 2019, WSIB has significantly streamlined its processes. Furthermore, the shift to paperless operations has resulted in a remarkable increase in online enrollment, with the number of customers signed up for primary online services skyrocketing from 35% to 75% in 2023, marking an increase of approximately 225,000 customers.

With these latest enhancements, WSIB continues to lead the way in fostering efficiency and convenience for businesses while maintaining its commitment to providing timely and effective support.
