Features touchscreen that uses data to optimize ice management
Hilltip, a manufacturer of road maintenance equipment, has launched the StrikeSmart™ PLUS controller, an addition to its HTrack™ system. This new controller, featuring an 8.7-inch touchscreen interface, uses real-time data to recommend optimal materials and spread rates for ice management. It also automates equipment settings to ensure accurate material application rates, improving efficiency for winter maintenance professionals.
Working alongside Hilltip’s TempStriker™ sensor, the StrikeSmart PLUS controller continuously monitors variables like temperature and humidity. By analyzing this data alongside up-to-date weather forecasts, it recommends appropriate application rates and materials, such as granular salt or liquid brine. The system automatically adjusts settings according to vehicle speed, minimizing distractions for drivers and maximizing efficiency.
Craig Sandmann, North American Sales/Operations representative for Hilltip, highlighted the importance of this technology in providing confidence for winter maintenance professionals. He emphasized that the StrikeSmart PLUS controller eliminates guesswork by offering automated, science-based recommendations based on real-time weather forecasting and road condition monitoring.
The SprayStriker PLUS controller is offered as an optional feature for Hilltip’s IceStriker™ spreaders and SprayStriker™ sprayers.
