Fall protection ranks number 1 on the list of the top 10 most frequently cited workplace safety violations for 2016, according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in the United States.
Patrick Kapust, deputy director of OSHA’s directorate of enforcement programs, presented the top 10 list on the expo floor as part of the 2016 National Safety Council Congress & Expo in Anaheim, Calif. on Tuesday.
The top 10 for 2016 are:
•Fall protection (6,929 violations)
•Hazard communication (5,677)
•Respiratory protection (3,585)
•Powered industrial trucks (2,860)
•Machine guarding (2,451)
•Electrical wiring (1,940)
•Electrical, general requirements (1,704).
“Every year the OSHA top 10 serves as a guide for employers to address the biggest safety risks facing their employees,” said National Safety Council president and CEO Deborah Hersman.
