Beginning January 16th, WorkSafeBC has extended the operating hours in its Teleclaim Contact Centre from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm., to 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The extended hours reflect WorkSafeBC’s commitment to responding to the needs of B.C.’s workers and employers who have requested the longer hours, WorkSafeBC said in a statement.
Teleclaim is the centre workers can call to report injuries, rather than having to fill out and submit forms. When workers call
a client services representative completes their injury report, explains the claims process, and helps them obtain other services if needed. The worker’s employer is then notified of the injury and can follow the status of the claim
as can the worker.
Last year, Teleclaim assisted nearly 60,000 workers and offered services in more than 170 languages in response to B.C.’s diverse workforce, says Diana Miles, senior vice-president of Worker and Employer Services.
“We’ve been striving to make our claim services as accessible as possible — first, by offering them in languages other than English, and now by extending our hours for workers,” says Miles. “More workers will be able to contact us when it’s convenient for them.”
