ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — A Newfoundland company has been fined $6,000 after an accident at an auto repair shop that pinned a worker under a vehicle.

The provincial government says ERL Enterprises Ltd. pleaded guilty to two violations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

The government says the incident occurred in September 2010 at an auto repair shop on Blackmarsh Road in St. John's.

The worker suffered serious injuries to his back and ribs.

The company also admitted to a charge of failing to ensure that safe work procedures were followed at the workplace.

A charge against a supervisor with ERL Enterprises has been set over to Nov. 2.
