Vests in colour PDF Print E-mail
PPA Personal Protective Apparel

North Safety Products has introduced a new line of safety vests for emergency personnel, which the company claims meets the latest standard from the International Safety Equipment Association, ANSI/ISEA 207 2006. The vests are ideal for use in roadway emergencies or other emergencies where distinctive apparel is required, the company says. North Safety’s new line of emergency safety vests allows for colour-specific markings on the vest panel or trim to distinguish among professionals agencies such as police, highway and transport safety personnel, fire and EMS responders. The company says the vests exceed CSA Z96 Table 5 coefficients of retro reflection.

Vamp 221 offers arc flash protection PDF Print E-mail
Electrical Safety

VAMP Ltd.’s Vamp 221 is a dual-sensing and multi-zone arc protection system for low and medium voltage electrical power safety applications. The system’s ability to trip in just seven milliseconds means that electrical arcs are stopped well before their full explosive potential is reached, according to the company. Vamp 221 uses light and current sensing information to provide faster and more efficient protection than standalone over-current relays or busbar differential schemes, Vamp says. The master 221 module comes with 3-phase current measurement, 50BF breaker failure protection stages, four normally open trip contacts and two alarm contacts. Vamp says it can be programmed to sense electric arc conditions using either simultaneous light and current data, or light sensor information only.

Lighten up your dark side PDF Print E-mail
Eye and Face Protection

The new SmartLens photochromic eyewear from AOSafety has an automatic lens changer that adjusts according to the outdoor light conditions, reducing the need to purchase multiple pairs of protective eyewear, says the product’s maker Aearo Technologies. The lens lightens or darkens as needed and within seconds, and is “UV reactive”, which means it responds to the amount of ultraviolet light it receives, the company adds. SmartLens also features durable frame with nylon brow and magnesium alloy temples, tough polycarbonate lens that absorbs 99.9 per cent of UV, abrasion resistant hard-coat for extended life, and meets ANSI Z87.1-2003 High Impact Standards and ANSI Z80.3’s traffic signal recognition requirements, the company says.
