Bifocals put older workers in focus |

Gateway Safety’s new line of bifocal safety eyewear was
developed with the aging workforce in mind, the company says. Its Scorpion MAG provides
greater flexibility in the types of tasks older workers can perform, thus
helping to reduce eyestrain and improve compliance, Gateway says. Scorpion MAG has
an adjustable-length feature, ratcheting temples and a soft “fingertip”
nosepiece. Scorpion MAG is a high-quality, cost-effective, and
contemporary-styled eyewear that workers will be comfortable wearing all day,
the company says. Lenses come in clear or gray. Gateway says the product meets
or exceeds ANSI Z87.2+ standard.

The new SmartLens photochromic eyewear from AOSafety has an
automatic lens changer that adjusts according to the outdoor light conditions,
reducing the need to purchase multiple pairs of protective eyewear, says the
product’s maker Aearo Technologies. The lens lightens or darkens as needed and
within seconds, and is “UV reactive”, which means it responds to the amount of
ultraviolet light it receives, the company adds. SmartLens also features durable
frame with nylon brow and magnesium alloy temples, tough polycarbonate lens
that absorbs 99.9 per cent of UV, abrasion resistant hard-coat for extended
life, and meets ANSI Z87.1-2003 High Impact Standards and ANSI Z80.3’s traffic
signal recognition requirements, the company says.
