Deficiencies in warehouse storage racking leads to penalties

Yen Bros. Food Service of Vancouver has been fined $24,847.

This firm operates a food processing facility and warehouse.

WorkSafeBC inspected the facility and noted deficiencies in warehouse storage racking equipment, including damaged frame uprights, diagonal braces detached from uprights, vertical columns detached from their base plates, and horizontal beams with permanent deflection.

WorkSafeBC issued a stop-use order for the unsafe storage racking. The firm failed to ensure its workplace was planned, constructed, used and maintained to protect workers from danger, a repeated violation.
