Signal Group’s Flame Ionisation Detector helps packaging company

In a bid to bolster its commitment to environmental responsibility and regulatory compliance, a prominent global packaging company in Ireland has been utilizing cutting-edge technology. The company, renowned for its sustainable practices, recently employed a rented gas analyser to monitor VOC emissions (volatile organic compounds) continuously within its facility.

The decision to temporarily hire a flame ionisation detector (FID) from Signal Group in the UK arose during equipment changes at the facility. The rented Signal analyser swiftly proved its mettle, delivering accuracy and reliability to the packaging manufacturer as it upgraded its monitoring processes. The initial short-term hire period was extended due to a project delay, further underscoring the effectiveness of the solution.

At the heart of this eco-friendly initiative is the reduction of VOC emissions originating from the printing and laminating processes. An oxidizer treats these emissions, followed by measurement using an FID analyser to determine the total organic hydrocarbon content post-oxidation. Continuous monitoring empowers plant operators to refine processes, enhancing efficiency and minimizing emissions.

Signal Group's rental equipment, including a heated FID analyser, heated line with controller, and filter, offers a plug-and-play solution, ensuring compatibility, accuracy, and reliability. As the world strives to meet COP28 goals, this environmentally-conscious move exemplifies the packaging industry's commitment to reducing carbon footprints and aligning with global sustainability objectives.
