Machine Automation Safety Congress 2009, an exhibition within Health and Safety Canada Tradeshow, showcasing the latest technologies in machine safety and machine guarding, hosted a forum on the compliance aspect of machine guarding.
OHS legal expert Cheryl Edwards, partner at Heenan Blaikie LLP, was joined by Wayne DeL'Orme, provincial coordinator for the Ontario Ministry of Labour and Simon Fridlyand, president of S.A.F.E. Engineering Inc. discussed the legal obligations of companies in implementing machine guarding systems. The forum also focused on recent trends in enforcement and prosecution of OHS cases.
