HARBOUR GRACE, N.L. — A 27-year-old crew member of a Newfoundland fishing vessel is dead following an accident aboard the ship Friday evening.

Police say the man, originally from St. Anthony, died of his injuries at sea aboard the Katsheshuk II after being struck by a steel door around 8 p.m.

The petroleum giant has committed to spending $970 million over six years in the hopes of finding oil in four deepwater parcels about 200 kilometres off the province's southwestern shore.
