Studies link shift work to cancer

Having a work environment that has workers on frequent, irregular rotation shift schedule may be causing them more than just sleepless nights. 

A World Health Organization study on the carcinogenic effects of shift work showed there’s “modestly increased” risk of breast cancer among long-term employees who performed night shift work.
The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) has replaced OxyContin with OxyNeo as one of the drugs that can be prescribed for workers who are injured on the job.

Prior to making this change, the WSIB's Drug Advisory Committee reviewed available data on OxyNeo and noted that it has the same active ingredient as OxyContin and is similar in efficacy and adverse effects.
Anti-asbestos activists in Canada are working hard to get the government to heed calls to eradicate Canada's asbestos mining and export industries. They're making some headway and urge more entities to get involved, including occupational health and safety professionals.
